Vanilla NFSU2 used static baked lighting. Redux 2.0 injects a form of Screen Space Ambient Occlusion (SSAO). When you drive under a streetlamp in the industrial district, the light actually bleeds onto your hood. Headlights now cast volumetric cones that cut through the fog, a feature that was impossible on PS2 or original PC hardware.
