Emerging from the wreckage with a metal brace on his leg, James finds himself drawn into a secretive, fetishistic underworld led by the enigmatic Vaughan (Elias Koteas), a scarred scientist of the highway. Vaughan’s cult is obsessed with celebrity car crashes—specifically the death of James Dean. They gather not to mourn, but to re-enact collisions, study scars, and pursue the ultimate fusion of man and machine.
