MIDV-806 functions similarly to other HIV vaccines in development. The antibody binds to the CD4 receptor on T-cells, preventing HIV from using these receptors to gain entry into the cells. By blocking HIV entry, MIDV-806 aims to reduce the viral load in the body and slow disease progression.
