This paper examines the socio-technical phenomenon of low-resolution (3GP) amateur media consumption in rural Maharashtra, India. It explores how the intersection of "Desi" (local/indigenous) identity, the linguistic specificity of "Marathi," and the "Village" setting creates a localized digital subculture.
